Today our favorite dancers are participating the Dancers Care Foundation Benefit Competition presented by Starbound.  This charity dance competition supports Breast Cancer awareness with 100% of the proceeds going to benefit the cause.  I can think of no better way for anyone to spend a Saturday.  Way to put your celebrity and dance skills to aid such a wonderful organization.

Dancers Care Foundation raises awareness and funds to help prevent cancer and ultimately find a cure. Our primary objective is to generate revenue to support medical research in the fight against cancer, with dancers and dance-related businesses at the forefront of giving. The result of our work provides funding to doctors and researchers for innovative clinical and genetic research. Abby may have said Brooke is throwing away her dancing career to pursue singing but it looks like it is starting to pay off.  Brooke’s debut album is slated to be released on August 13th.  Song titles include, Summer Love Song, Hurt, and Brooke’s first on air single, What About Love .  Brooke and Dance Mom Kelly have been making radio appearances on the east coast promoting her new CD including on Star 100.7 Pittsburgh, and  Q101 Harrisonburg, VA.

The music video for What About Love was released on you-tube yesterday.

You can stay up to date with all of Brooke’s musical news at her official Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/BrookeHylandMusic The single is also available for download on iTunes

What do you think DMJs?  Is it going be a hit or should she get her butt out of the recording studio and back into the dance studio?

I am still on cloud 9 after this week’s episode!

1.  There were no Candy Apples!
2.  We weren’t forced to bow down at the Maddie Ziegler alter.
3.  There was taxidermy!

What wasn’t there to love this week?  Before I go on gushing let’s dive into the recap.

Starting off the bottom of the pyramid is Brooke and Paige.  Personally I am amazed that they are even still on the pyramid.  Abby made a snarky quip about Brooke blowing off her dance career to pursue music, though I am pretty sure she takes vocal lessons at Abby’s studio. Next on the bottom is Payton, Asia and then Mackenzie.  Little Zeigler topped Asia and you can see the skin on Kristie Ray’s face get even tighter.  Kicking off the second row is Chloe, then Maddie, and finally Kendal.  Apparently Maddie is “too perfect” and needs to learn she isn’t always on top.  This is week 2 in the second row for Maddie.  Personally, I thought that was a breach of contract somewhere but I’m not making a fuss.  If you noticed since there are three girls in the second row that means there is only the top spot left and that leaves NIA!

“Look out little girl”, Asia.

The team is off to Xfinity dance in Orlando armed with a group routine and 3 solos.

Group Number (whole team including Payton)  – “On the Verge”
Solo (Chloe) – Spanish Ballet “Fired Up”
Solo (Kendal) – Lyrical “Under My Spell” Solo (Nia!!!) – Tribute to Broadway Baby Melissa, in her normal passive aggressive manner, notes that she and the girls had a really close relationship with Broadway Baby and that she knows Maddie would have loved to perform the tribute [instead of Nia]

“I guess scooping all that poop didn’t get you too far, now did it Melissa?” –Christie

Next scene we cut from the ALDC and are standing in the home of Ted Bundy the Back to Life Taxidermy store.  (Are they called stores?) and the owner brings out a stuffed Broadway Baby.  Abby gets really emotional and starts stroking the dead creature’s fur.  How can I say this while being polite…. Um I can’t so screw it.. THAT IS CREEPY!   What is next?  A wax figure of Maddie (the only other being Abby cares for?) ALSO – I will be the first to admit that I do not know anything about art of taxidermy but that looks like a pretty shoddy job.  But then again how good can it look— it’s a dead dog!  Ughhh okay moving on.

Next week’s dance will feature a piece on reincarnation. I think we all know what Abby would come back as.. OINK!

There is a whole bunch of Payton/Leslie drama…  We are members of this team.. blah blah… my daughter deserves this… blah blah…. I need some Botox … blah blah…..

Why did I sign a six year contract?

The moms (except Melissa and Leslie) all meet at Kelly’s house for drinks and try and convince her to come back.  We find out that Abby asked Chloe to come out to LA but that all the moms agreed that they would not send their daughter’s out there.  Kelly says that she is still coming to the competition to watch.  ***FYI in case you were wondering she didn’t just fly from Pittsburg to Orlando to make a point—Brooke and Paige had a “Meet & Greet” down there as well.

Kelly shows up at the competition and Abby makes a big scene about not getting up to let her sit in the row.  In the dressing room Abby reminds the girls that nationals is coming up and to think of this as an audition for solos in nationals.  Abby asks Maddie is she misses having a solo… stupid question Abby Lee.

I liked PRETENDING not to have a solo better than not having one.

All the girls did well – but I thought Chloe was phenomenal.  Maybe it was the costume but I was speaking Spanish the rest of the night!  Like I said on Twitter I am dying for one of those in my size!

Our thoughts exactly!

Awards kick off but not before an uncomfortable mother daughter dance/twerk off between Kristie Ray and Asia.

Solo (Chloe) – Spanish Ballet “Fired Up” – Second
Solo (Kendal) – Lyrical “Under My Spell” – Fifth
Solo (Nia!!!) – Tribute to Broadway Baby – Ninth
Group Number (whole team including Payton)  – “On the Verge” – Fourth

Poor Nia got short-changed in the costume department this week! Chloe’s was on fire!

Has anyone else noticed how the ALDC is not placing nearly as high as they used to?  In earlier seasons it seemed like every competition was a sweep.

In the dressing room Abby is NOT happy with the results. (Maybe it’s because she has a crappy bra)  Suddenly Kristie Ray is spouting off about how sick of all of the moms she is and if Asia doesn’t get a solo they are going back to Los Angeles so Asia can do ”professional work”.  I wouldn’t be surprised if Kristie Ray did a different type of “professional work” once if you know what I mean.

Well junkies—what did you think!  Let me hear from you!!!  Comments get me through my 9-5 HA!

You think there is a lot of drama on Dance Moms… you should see what goes on via Twitter during the show!

Here are the official Twitter accounts for our favorite mommas and their little dancers.

“Is it going to be cray-cray?” – Kristie Ray anticipating her first recital with the ALDC.
You know it girlfriend.

This week featured the ALDC gang getting ready for their annual dance concert.  This year’s theme, “ALDC GOES HOLLYWOOD”.  Any coincidence with the fact that Abby has been spending so much time in LA lately with Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition (AUDC) and the fact that she hinted in an earlier episode that she was looking at real estate for a studio in Los Angeles – Dance Mom Junkies think NOT!

Before we jump into that estrogen filled disaster, lets kick off with the pyramid this week.  At the bottom of the pyramid we had poor little Paige. (Anyone else have a soft spot in their heart for this future rockette?) Then came Brooke, Kendal, and Nia.  I thought Nia’s performance in “Gone Too Soon” was at least second tier  quality!  Leading off the second level we have Asia.  I can barely remember Asia’s dance from last week – oh wait that’s right, she wasn’t there last week!  This fact is not lost on the moms who chime in saying every time their daughters don’t compete they are luck to even be on the pyramid at all.  Kristie’s feathers fluff up and she goes on the defensive saying Asia was doing professional work for charity and was still attending classes wall traveling.  Shenanigans I say.

Next we have Chloe and Mackenzie Maddie.  Hold the phone! That means little Zeigler is on top!  You go girl!  After stepping up to the plate and finishing first in her division I think she certainly deserves it

Every single girl is assigned a solo for the recital.  Since the girls are participating in 15+ numbers EACH Abby allows the girls to do solos that they have performed in the past, except Paige.  Abby wants Paige to learn a new routine the day before the show.  Paige looks appears unsure but before she says anything Kelly launches on the offensive, saying that in “40  years of the ALDC no one has ever been given a new solo the day before the concert.”  (She would know – Kelly was a student of the ALDC herself as a child!)

This is where things get a little dicey/the editing gets a little poor on the part of Lifetime.  Suddenly we shoot to a scene where the girls and Moms are on the stage and Abby pulls Paige’s solo and then who asks who would like to learn a new solo, Maddie raises her hand.  This causes Kelly to again go into attack mode and resulting in Abby telling her to get off the stage and instructing for an unseen third party to call the police.  For the second year in a row the Brooke and Paige will not be performing in the annual recital. Brooke was even supposed to perform a single from her soon to be released album, “Summer Lovin”.

Now, what was shown on lifetime differs quite a bit from the youtube footage that we have of the same occurrence on the stage.  Click here to view the video.

The second repercussion of Kelly’s departure is that the girls are not able to participate in the Dance Track Magazine photo-shoot. All of the girls looked great but the  magazine chose Kendal to be on the cover!  Abby seems surprised and makes a snarky comment that if Brooke and Paige had been there things would have turned out differently.  Is it impossible for that woman to keep her mouth shut and be fat and happy…. She is already halfway there!  Ok.. now I’m getting mean, moving on.  Check out these behind the scene shots of the photo-shoot!

group 2

We also get to see JILL perform a ballroom number.  Abby flips out when the other moms run out on stage after the number and give her flowers.  She just keeps going on about how they are ruining her show and the schedule of events.  Don’t you think her precious schedule of events was already wrecked when Brooke and Paige weren’t there to perform.  Let alone I am positive that both their names and pictures were already printed in the recital program!  Awkward.

Some fun quick facts regarding the concert:
*It was held on June 16th
*The venue was Norwin High School Auditorium, North Huntingdon, PA
*Abby claims in the episode that there were 1,300 in attendance
*Tickets were available for sale on showclix.com for $40 a seat
* 1,300 tickets x $40 = $52,000  Ka$ing Ka$ing Abby!

Things got REALLY interesting after the show on Twitter.  Stay posted the episode follow-up post is on the way!
